ONDM 2011 - Bologna - Day 3

15th International Conference on Optical Network Design and Modeling

The article presented by J. Ahmed mentioned that the online RWA algorithm is used for fast, real-time provisioning. Their study focus on the need of re-optimization of resource usage since network churn causes resource usage to be fragmented and may cause connection requests to be blocked. The issue is when and what to re-optimize. One option is to have the re-optimization task triggered when a given threshold number of blocked requests is reached. The current benchmark is to trigger the function after an X number of requests have entered the network. What to re-optimize can be defined by the LPs (light-paths) on most congested links, or the ones causing most congests, the current benchmark is to pick X numbers of requests from the last arrived ones.
